Nicola
Charity Manager
Nicola was appointed Charity Manager of Colchester Gateway in March 2026, having been a valued member of the organisation since 2018. With a diverse professional background and a strong commitment to supporting people with learning disabilities, Nicola brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and leadership to the role.
Nicola began her career working in a school for children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), where she developed a deep understanding of person-centred support and inclusive practice. She went on to specialise in autism, gaining extensive experience in supporting individuals with complex needs to achieve their full potential.
Over the years, Nicola has held a variety of leadership and support roles, including managing a children’s home and working within social services for eight years. She has also supported individuals and families affected by domestic abuse, demonstrating compassion, resilience, and a commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable people.
Nicola is passionate about empowering others, building strong relationships, and creating opportunities for people to thrive. She believes in leading with integrity, collaboration, and inclusivity, ensuring that the voices of members, families, staff, and volunteers remain at the heart of everything Colchester Gateway does.
Having worked alongside the previous Charity Manager during a planned transition period, Nicola is well placed to build on the charity’s strong foundations while leading it confidently into the future. Her vision is to continue developing services, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring that people with learning disabilities are supported to live fulfilling, independent, and meaningful lives.
Above all, Nicola is passionate about Colchester Gateway and is committed to ensuring the charity continues to grow, innovate, and make a positive difference in the lives of the people it supports for many years to come.
